I was given the gift of Dr. Rao’s primary care for Christmas in 2016. I didn’t take advantage of it until March of 2017. My mindset at the time was negative. I had heard about changing eating habits and I felt that I liked the foods I was eating and I was nearly 70, so why change now? After meeting with Dr. Rao and hearing her suggestions, I said I would take it one small step at a time and see what happens.
The staff at Shakthi Health & Wellness Center is wonderful, personable, competent, and answered all my questions. Very professional with a personal touch that was very much appreciated. I left feeling hopeful, which was not expected since I entered with a negative mindset. I started to slowly implement the suggestions of Dr. Rao and the staff. By the time I met with Dr. Rao a month later, I told her that I didn’t realize how bad I felt until I started to feel better. This encouraged me to try more changes. I found I preferred not to eat many of the foods that were not good for me that I craved. I look at these foods and in my mind, I go through the process of how many of them spiked my insulin levels and turn into fat. This is just the right turn-off for me to stay away from these foods. Dr. Rao said my palate would change and she was right. If try to eat the foods I used to eat, they don’t taste the same. I actually want to eat healthy.
I still have a way to go but I find that I want to take the next step and then the next as I continue to see progress. It has now been nearly 8 weeks and I have lost 6 pounds. I have lost 3 inches from my waist and 2 inches from my hips. I have more energy and feel better.
As I said at the beginning, I went into this with a negative attitude and was not planning to change. But I now see myself as a success story. I have been sharing my journey with my coworkers and family in hopes that they will see the benefits that I have seen and I recommend Shakthi Health and Wellness to them.
