What Is IV Therapy
Our IV Therapy options provide complementary nutritional support to their health regimens. But what is IV therapy? One IV infusion offered to patients is the Myers Cocktail. The Myers Cocktail, named after the physician John Myers, is an intravenously administered vitamin drip. This vitamin infusion can enhance your immune system, help mitigate allergy symptoms, and reduce fibromyalgia symptoms.
IV Therapy Vitamins
The IV provides several vitamins to patients to better enhance their immunity. The vitamins include:
- Magnesium: Supports the bones and muscles of the body. Can help reduce fatigue, muscle spasms, and migraines.
- Vitamin C: An antioxidant that boosts immunity
- Vitamin B: Promotes healthy hair and skin while preventing memory loss and regulating stress
- Calcium: Supports bone strength
- Zinc: A vitamin that is not naturally created in the body, but can help regulate immunity
- Glutathione: An antioxidant that supports the immune system and can help prevent cancer, cystic fibrosis, and natural aging
The Myers Cocktail drip takes 20-30 minutes to flow into your body, bypassing the digestive system, and creating a more effective therapeutic effect. Depending on the individual’s condition they are trying to treat, patients can receive IV Therapy once or twice a week.
IV Therapy is a complementary medicine approach allowing patients an alternative way to treat symptoms of various health conditions like chronic pain, adrenal fatigue, asthma, immune disorders, and fibromyalgia. The IV Therapy treatment can also be used as an alternative approach to boosting your immunity and your cellular health.
What IV Therapy Does
Providing your body with additional vitamins and minerals is a good way to maintain your health, enhance your immunity, and boost your energy. The Myers Cocktail infusion provides a potent and effective concentration of vitamins to enhance your body’s vitality.
You may be wondering how the IV itself works. The vitamins administered intravenously allow them to be better absorbed into the bloodstream. These nutrients actively boost the body’s cells, allowing them to work more efficiently.
Many of your nutrients are absorbed through the food you eat, but sometimes it may not be enough. It could be due to a poor diet or an underlying health condition that prevents the level of nutrients your body requires to function at optimum levels. IV Therapy provides your body with the nutrient boost it requires.
For some, their underlying health conditions are associated with digestive problems such as indigestion and food sensitivities. These conditions may prevent your body from absorbing all the necessary nutrients needed to function.
This may lead to malnutrition and inflammation. When IV therapy is administered directly to the bloodstream, the vitamins are directly “coaxed” into the mitochondria cells, boosting them with energy, encouraging healing, and making them more productive.
Benefits and Disadvantages of Administering Vitamins Intravenously
We think it is vitally important for all of our patients to understand the benefits and risks of any that we might suggest. IV therapy is a good way to get that boost of vitamins and minerals when you are deficient in them.
The advantages of the cocktails and vitamins we administered are dependent on the components within each of them. But there are benefits and disadvantages when it comes to the actual method of delivery.
Benefits:
When many people try to fix their vitamin and mineral deficiency they look to do it through food or supplements. Both of these are perfectly acceptable but will take a bit of time to be effective. Administering a vitamin and mineral cocktail intravenously will be faster and will bring about results in half the time.
Not only will IV therapy help with minerals and vitamins, but it is also well known to help with other issues like dehydration.
Some cocktails can actually help with serious conditions like heart health. Including things like magnesium sulfate and calcium can be beneficial to not only answer the deficiency but also help improve your overall cardiovascular health.
Using IV therapy in lieu of medication can be less harsh on your system than prescription medication and it will get a natural boost of energy along with all the other benefits.
If you suffer from a weak immune system IV therapy is a good option. Vitamin C or zinc gives your immune system a big boost.
You can use IV therapies to help with weight management as well. With the right components, you might boost your body’s ability to convert fat into fuel.
There are so many wonderful benefits that our treatments can bring to your wellness journey but that being said we also want transparency. So just like with any injectable, there is a small chance of infection.
Some patients may experience redness, bruising, or itching at the injection site. And let’s face it most of us know that there is a little bit of pain involved. Though our trained doctors and world-class facilities will reduce the chance of having to address any of these disadvantages.
What Conditions IV Therapy Treats
Myers Cocktail infusions have been effective in supporting individuals suffering from acute asthma attacks, migraines, chronic fatigue, colds, and fibromyalgia.
Asthma Attacks: Vitamin B12 encourages the production of red blood cells, allowing the absorption of iron. This encourages oxygen delivery to the body, relieving the strain on your lungs.
Migraines: Those who suffer from migraines have been shown to have a magnesium deficiency. The magnesium present in the Myers Cocktail provides relief from the migraine attack and encourages the prevention of future migraines.
Chronic Fatigue: The B complex vitamins play a critical role in energy production, and can provide energy-boosting effects for the body.
Fibromyalgia: The B vitamins present in the infusion can help stabilize nerve conduction mitigating fibromyalgia pain symptoms. The additional minerals support muscle health and healing, encouraging blood vessels to dilate and carry more oxygen through the body. The infusion has been shown to demonstrate improvement in tender points, joint pain, and quality of life.
When considering if this IV Therapy would be an appropriate approach to supplementing your health care routine, you should reach out to a medical professional, who is skilled and experienced in integrative medicine approaches. Any medical approach should be monitored by a physician. Many of the benefits of IV Therapy may include:
- Increased Energy
- Enhanced athletic performance
- Encouraged muscle recovery
- Improved immunity
- Relief from pain symptoms
- Relief from underlying health conditions
- Reduced Withdrawal Symptoms with NAD+
