Another way to Plan for the holidays

Did you know the average American gains between 3-5 lbs during this holiday season? One statistic shows people can intake 10,000 calories on Thanksgiving (that’s about 3 lb!). Remember 3000 calories is about 1 lb. Most people do not lose that in the new year so it is easy to see why in 5 years we can be up by 15-25 lbs. If you look at calorie intake in blocks of 1 week you can plan for those holiday parties by

  1. Increasing exercise that week so you can burn off more
  2. Eating smaller meals on days surrounding the events
  3. Reducing portion sizes at the events so your calorie intake is reduced
